       Old Guitar
      ©2009 by Rick Ellis
I know I’m not a bargain
That is something I’m far from
I am just an old guitar
That no one wants to strum
I’m more than slightly out of tune
And I’ve spent too many years on the road
I bare the scars of countless wounds
From too long carrying a heavy load
I know I’m nothing special
I have never been a deal
My worth has not increased with age
And sometimes I don’t sound real
But there are still a thousand melodies
And lot’s of things I’ve yet to say
If someone would put their arms around me
 Hold me close and play
I know I’m nothing special
That is something I’ll never be
I’m just a number on an old pawn ticket
Wishing that someone would love me
 Yes, I know I’m not a bargain
That is something I’m far from
I am just an old guitar
That no one wants to strum
